Programme content
What we do on board.
01
Trim and boat speed
We work on understanding the relationship between wind, course and sail settings. The aim is not only to set a sail, but to understand why a given change makes the boat faster or slower.
02
Crew work and manoeuvres
Roles on board, communication and carrying out manoeuvres as a coordinated crew. We work on precision, rhythm and repetition.
03
Spinnaker
Preparing, hoisting, controlling and dropping the spinnaker, and how the crew is organised through the manoeuvre.
04
Drifter and gennaker
When and why we use the drifter and the gennaker, with hands-on work on both sails in suitable conditions.
05
Putting it all together
Participants take on more and more responsibility for the helm, the trim and crew decisions, so the individual exercises come together as real sailing.
Important
This course is not intended for complete beginners. Previous sailing experience is required.
The advanced course is intended for sailors who already have sailing experience, know the basic parts of a sailboat and have practical experience of basic manoeuvres and sail handling.
