Beginner Sailing Course

Programme content

What we do on board.

01

The boat and safety

We go through the main parts of the boat, the safety equipment, how to move around on board and how the crew is organised before we leave the dock.

02

Helm, wind and course

You learn how the boat responds to the helm and the wind, how to hold a course, and how the course relates to the position of the sails.

03

Sail handling

Hoisting, dropping and basic trimming of the sails. Every participant takes an active part — the point is to do the work, not to watch the instructor.

04

Basic manoeuvres

We practise the basic manoeuvres under sail and how the crew is organised, so you understand what happens on board before, during and after each one.

05

Life aboard

You spend two nights aboard the Hanse 430. Alongside the sailing itself you get to know how the space works and what daily life on a sailboat is like.
